Outreach to CVU

JV Team: After a very successful first season, we are excited support our JV robotics team through its second year participating in FTC. It has been a great privilege to continue to provide mentorship, financial support, and collaborate with them throughout the year. Our efforts in outreach have seen this group grow from a small club to a thriving and competitive team.

Outreach to the Community

Shelburne Farmers Market: In early October, the RoboHawks visited the Shelburne Farmers Market through our connection with the Rotary Club of Charlotte, Shelburne, and Hinesburg. We used this opportunity to connect with the nontechnical community by displaying our work from the season and conveying our experience of FIRST Robotics. We were also able to interact with many younger community members and introduced them to our newly developed FIRST Lego League program in a fun and interactive way.

Outreach to the FIRST Community

Scrimmage: In early December this year, we hosted a scrimmage at our school with excellent attendance from eight teams from around the state. This was an extremely valuable experience for us, enabling the team to collaborate with others by comparing notes with other teams, exchanging ideas, testing our robots, and sharing solutions to common problems. We really enjoyed this experience and hope it was beneficial to other teams as well.

Outreach to the Wider Technical Community

Tech Jam: In late October last year, we worked to organize and staff a booth at the Vermont TechJam, an annual career and tech expo centered around Vermont's tech industry. Along with some of the other Vermont FTC teams, we were there to promote FIRST robotics programs as well as demonstrate our bot. We took the opportunity to speak with dozens of tech companies and organizations from all around Vermont, and looked for potential sponsors who were interested in supporting FIRST robotics.
GlobalFoundries : In late October,  traveled over to the GlobalFoundries campus accompanied by the robotics teams from Essex, Burlington, and South Burlington. We explored the facilities and two of their Boston Dynamics Spot robots. The team worked with GF engineers and programmers who work on the robots everyday day. We edited and tested the code and drove the robot ourselves. This was a great opportunity to connect further with one of our sponsors as well as other FTC teams!
